As a general rule of thumb, no subject line should contain more than 60 characters. I would even suggest that you make yours no longer than 40. Doing this will ensure it won’t get cut by email clients.

Show Appreciation

After informing the candidate they have been shortlisted for the job, it is a good idea to follow up with a couple of lines to express your gratitude for their application.
